Brenda made this “Hunter’s Star” quilt based on a tutorial by Jenny Doan. She used two different fabrics for the outer border, a detail that I thought would bother me when I first noticed it. Not that there is anything wrong with it, it’s just something that is hard to handle for my OCD. But the longer I looked at it, the more I liked it. The fabrics are actually quite close in colour and pattern size and work well together, and it definitely adds interest to the quilt. For quilting we chose the pantograph “Bubbles” to offset the strict geometric shapes of the blocks.

Diesen “Hunter’s Star” Quilt hat Brenda nach einem Tutorial von Jenny Doan genäht. Für den äußeren Rand hat sie zwei verschiedene Stoffe verwendet. Zuerst dachte ich, dass meine Zwanghaftigkeit damit nicht klarkommt, aber je länger ich mir den Quilt ansah, umso besser gefiel mir gerade dieses Detail. Die Stoffe sind sich in Farbe und Mustergröße sehr ähnlich und harmonieren gut miteinander und geben dem Quilt ein interessantes Detail. Als Quiltmuster haben wir “Bubbles” gewählt, die streng geometrischen Blöcke brauchten zur Auflockerung ein paar Kurven.

This cute little quilt was made by Lisa as a gift for her newborn grandson. The pantograph is called “Bubbles”, I liked it for this project because it picks up the polka dots from the fabrics. And the bubbles also echo the zig zag pattern of the quilt although I didn’t realize this before editing the pictures. A lucky coincidence. Or maybe a subconscious choice. The back is a cozy white and grey flannel that has also a zig zag pattern.

Lisa hat diesen kleinen Quilt als Geschenk für ihren neugeborenen Enkel genäht. Das Quiltmuster heißt “Bubbles”, und wir haben es für dieses Projekt gewählt, weil es gut zu den vielen gepunkteten Stoffen passt. Und es wird auch im Zickzack gequiltet, auf und ab, was wiederum das Muster des Tops aufgreift. Allerdings ist mir das erst beim Bearbeiten der Bilder aufgefallen. Ein glücklicher Zufall. Oder vielleicht eine unterbewusste Entscheidung. Die Rückseite ist ein kuscheliger Flanellstoff in grau und weiß, und auch hier findet sich wieder ein Zickzackmuster.

Colette made this star quilt from a Jelly Roll of batik fabrics. The backing is a soft pink that didn’t photograph at all, and although I tried to manipulate the colour in photo editing software, I couldn’t get it right and decided to not post a picture of the back this time. The pantograph Colette chose is called “Butterfly Tango”. What a lovely spring quilt!

Diesen Sternenquilt hat Colette aus einer Jelly Roll mit Batikstoffen genäht. Die Rückseite war ein hübsches, zartes Rosa, das sich leider überhaupt nicht photographieren ließ. Ich habe versucht, den Farbton mit einem Bildbearbeitungsprogramm zu berichtigen, leider vergeblich, daher verzichte ich diesmal auf ein Bild von der Rückseite. Das Quiltmuster, das Colette gewählt hat, heißt “Butterfly Tango”. Ein Quilt, der richtig Lust auf Frühling macht!
