It took me quite a while but I have finally finished the quilt and pillow with the Chirp fabrics that I wrote about here. Those fabrics were the perfect find for this project! I especially enjoyed the background fabric with all the little insects buzzing around. It is such a nice change from the usual solid background fabrics. And I know my birds will not go hungry with all these critters in the air!
The matching pillow design has the same bird and star border, just in a different size. I used the Chirp stripe for the border in both projects, and stripes always look nicer with mitered corners. But don’t worry if mitered corners are not your friend. I don’t particularly love them either but can do them if I have to. They are entirely optional as I have included fabric requirements and instructions for mitered and straight-sewn borders. Otherwise these are fairly easy projects to put together.

Here are a few more close-up pictures, showing more of the quilting. I always curse myself when it takes forever to finish one of my quilts because of all the intricate quilting designs I choose, but I am always glad I put in the effort when I am done.
