Mary made this quilt as a graduation gift for her granddaughter. The pattern is called “Just Can’t Cut It” and was designed to be used with large scale prints that are just too pretty to cut into small pieces. Mary chose the pantograph “Wandering Daisies” to finish her project. For the back she used Fireside which is always great to work with and it shows the quilting nicely. 

Diesen Quilt hat Mary für ihre Enkelin genäht, als Geschenk zum Schulabschluss. Das Muster heißt “Just Can’t Cut It” und ist besonders geeignet für großgemusterte Stoffe, die zum Zerschneiden fast zu schade sind. Als Quiltmuster hat Mary “Wandering Daisies” ausgewählt, und für die Rückseite gab es leuchtenden Fireside. Der verarbeitet sich immer sehr gut und zeigt das Quiltmuster dann besonders schön.

This beautiful quilt top was made by Pattie, I love the soft, feminine colours. Pattie was looking for a floral design, and we chose “Daisy Duo” for her project. I am always happy when customers choose a thread colour that doesn’t completely blend with the background and was delighted when Pattie went for “Willow”, a lovely light green, instead of cream or another neutral colour. It goes well with all the fabrics but makes the quilting stand out a little more.

Dieses hübsche Quilt Top hat Pattie genäht, die hellen Pastelltöne gefallen mir sehr gut. Als Quiltmuster wünschte Pattie sich etwas mit Blumen, und wir haben “Daisy Duo” für ihr Projekt gewählt. Ich freue mich immer, wenn sich eine Kundin für eine Garnfarbe entscheidet, die nicht im Hintergrund untergeht, und Pattie wählte “Willow”, ein helles, frühlingshaftes Grün aus, das wunderbar zu ihren Stoffen passt und das Quiltmuster ein bisschen mehr betont als eine neutrale Farbe.

This quilt, “The Beginner’s Sampler”, is based on the book with the same name by local authors and quilters Marla Pinchin and Myrna Wilson who teach it as a class. Although Nancy has been quilting for a while she figured it wouldn’t hurt to take a beginner’s class, and the result is this beautiful quilt. She actually started out with the backing fabric which is a rather unusual black, white and green rose print and then chose black and white fabrics for the top with just a dash of green, and the result is quite stunning. Nancy chose the pantograph “Turbulence” for quilting, a good choice, the quilt is busy enough with all the different blocks, and the swirls and curves of the design always complement geometrical blocks nicely.

Dieser Quilt, der “Beginner’s Sampler” basiert auf dem gleichnamigen Buch der lokalen Quilterinnen und Autorinnen Marla Pinchin und Myrna Wilson und wird als Kurs angeboten. Obwohl Nancy schon eine ganze Weile quiltet, dachte sie sich, dass ein Anfängerkurs ja auch nichts schaden könne, und das Ergebnis ist dieser schöne Quilt. Angefangen hat das Projekt mit dem Rückseitenstoff, einem recht ungewöhnlichen Rosenstoff in schwarz, weiß und grün. Nancy wählte dann schwarze und weiße Stoffe für das Top aus und ein bisschen Grün für den besonderen Effekt. Und das Ergebnis sieht richtig toll aus. Als Quiltmuster hat sie “Turbulence” gewählt. Eine gute Wahl, denn hier stehen ganz eindeutig die verschiedenen Blöcke des Samplers im Vordergrund, und die Kurven und Swirls passen ja immer gut zu geraden, klaren Linien.

This quilt is a gift for a 50th wedding anniversary. Gail was one of the bridesmaids at the wedding, and she made this scrappy quilt as a gift for her friend. She included several pieces that have a special meaning, for example a wedding bouquet and a picture of Elvis. The pantograph we used to quilt her gift is called “Seaside Swirl”.  This is another nice design for using up scraps, I will have to keep it in mind.

Dieser Quilt ist ein Geschenk zur goldenen Hochzeit. Gail war damals eine der Brautjungfern und hat ihn jetzt für ihre Freundin zum Jubiläum genäht. Einige der verwendeten Stoffe haben eine besondere Bedeutung, zum Beispiel der Brautstrauß und das Bild von Elvis. Das Pantograph-Muster, das wir verwendet haben, heißt “Seaside Swirl”. Mir gefällt, wie die Restestreifen angeordnet sind, das muss ich unbedingt im Hinterkopf behalten für meine Resteverwertung.

Joanne made this quilt top that she calls “Shattered Dishes”, a fun variation of the traditional Broken Dishes block. For quilting she chose the pantograph “Swirling Feathers”, also a very traditional design that complements the pieced triangle blocks well. Isn’t it amazing what you can do with “just” half-square triangles?

Diesen Quilt hat mir Joanne zum Quilten gebracht. Sie nennt ihn “Shattered Dishes”, die Blöcke sind eine Variation des traditionellen Blocks “Broken Dishes”. Als Quiltmuster hat sie die “Swirling Feathers” gewählt, ein ebenfalls traditionelles Muster, das auch hier die geometrischen Blöcke gut ergänzt. Es ist doch immer wieder beeindruckend, was man aus “nur” Half-Square Triangles so alles machen kann.
