This lovely quilt in blue and turquoise was made by Angela. If you are local and haven’t met Angela, you should absolutely come and do so. In March she opened a new quilt shop in town,Cozy Cottons Quilting. She isn’t just a wonderful quilter, she is also a very friendly and cheerful person, and if petting fabrics at a quilt shop doesn’t put you in a great mood, Angela certainly will. This quilt and many others are displayed in the store as samples. The pattern Angela chose for her quilt is called “Overlapping Crop Circles”, one of my favourites. It has a modern look and adds great texture.
I have quilted a couple of “Elephant Abstractions” for customers but never a Giraffe before. This one was made by Karen as a donation for a fundraiser, and she asked for simple quilting, so we chose the pattern “Taj Mahal”. Didn’t it turn out just wonderful?
Lynnette made this quilt using the fabric line “Stiletto” by Basic Grey/Moda. Doesn’t it look elegant? I especially love the checkerboard border and how it blends into the background. The modern pantograph Lynnette chose for her project is called “Overlapping Crop Circles”.
“Welcome Home” was made by Sharon, and as you can probably tell I had a lot of fun custom quilting it. This is such a sweet quilt with lots of details to discover… birds, dogs, cats and even sheep. Sharon added buttons and ric rac for details, and the sheep are three-dimensional. Truly a labour of love.
Kelley made this fabulous Jelly Roll Race quilt. I quilted it with “Champagne Bubbles”. These always work well with lots of straight lines in a quilt top but they look especially great with the modern fabrics in Kelley’s quilt.
“Falling Charms” is a great pattern for charm packs (or leftover squares), and this cute little quilt was made by Mary. The soft colours and floral patterns pretty much ask for floral quilting, and Mary chose the design” Ginger Flower” to finish her project.
When I started playing around with bunny ideas last year for the new BOM, I got sidetracked and came up with a different bunny pattern. I quite liked it even though it wasn’t suitable at all for a BOM. I have been working on it on and off, and the pattern is now ready to be released. The Bunny Buddies are simple shapes, so if my usual tiny pieces are not your cup of tea or if you have never tried your hands at fusible appliqué, this is a great pattern to start with. You can even substitute the bunny tails for circles instead of the flower shapes that I used. I also created a matching pillow, I just love the bunny silhouettes, and especially the little guy with the floppy ear.
Both patterns are now available for purchase in the pattern store. I have also created a discount code, if you enter BUNNY20 you will get 20% off. The code is valid until May 20, 2022 (11.59 pm PDT) and applies to the Bunny Buddies and Bunny Buddies Pillow patterns only.
If you want both patterns, I have also created a bundle at a discount price that is valid until further notice.
Darlene, the Bargello queen among my customers, dropped off another Dancing Wave Bargello to be quilted. Most of the time her quilts are huge and get to the limits of my frame, and every time she swears she will never do another one as big. We get a good chuckle out of that because we both know it is just a question of time before she’ll be back with another one. This one is a gift for her daughter, and the daughter requested the pattern “Ripples” that I had used on another one of Darlene’s quilts before.
This modern quilt in mostly blues and greys was made by Muryn. It is a nice pattern for a Jelly Roll, or you could cut your strips from yardage which might give you more control over colour placement. Muryn chose the design “Overlapping Crop Circles” for quilting, one of my favourites for quilts with lots of straight lines and right angles, and it also adds great texture.
Sandra has been using up scraps, and this is another interesting pattern that she came up with. I like scrap quilts with a solid background colour, and this one has a secondary pattern as a bonus, quite lovely. Sandra chose the pattern “Melange” to finish her project.
